Prolonged survival in long-passage AKR leukemia using chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and adoptive immunotherapy.

چکیده
Despite recent advances in the treatment of acute leu kemia in man (13, 14, 16, 19), most patients die of recurrent leukemia (10). Chemotherapy usually is much less effective when used following relapse of leukemia after an initial remission and, with only occasional exceptions, sustained subsequent remissions do not occur (1). The experiments described below were performed in order to test a strategy that might have therapeutic applicability for the leukemic patient in whom conventional therapy has failed. In brief, AKR mice bearing advanced acute lymphocytic leukemia were treated with a combination of chemotherapy, irradiation therapy, and adoptive immunotherapy using a transplant of bone marrow and lymph node cells from

کاربرد ایمونوتراپی در درمان سرطان ها
In cancer therapy, the need for new treatments is profound. Alone or together, surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy cure cancer in almost half of the patients in whom it develops. Immunotherapy like chemotherapy can be delivered systemically to combat metastases. What is more , it normally attacks only diseased cells ignoring healthy ones , so it is more cancer-specific than chemotherapy and ...
متن کاملبررسی بروز سرطان ثانویه پس از درمان بیماران مبتلا به لنفوم هوچکین در بیمارستان حضرت علیاصغر(ع)
Hodgkin’s disease is one of the most common childhood malignancies that with correct diagnosis and effective treatment is curable and without treatment is leading to death. The survival of patients with Hodgkin’s disease has dramatically improved over the past 30 years because of advances in treatment. However, concern for the risk of long tern complications has resulted in a number of tria...
متن کاملTrends in Adoptive Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TILs) Therapy
Adoptive T cell therapy based on tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) is the most effective treatment for malignant melanoma. The TILs therapy has demonstrated high overall response rates, resulting in tumor regression and prolonged survival in comparison to IL-2 and ipilimumab treatments. Expansion of TILs under exvivo conditions using patients’ own tumor tissue is a prerequisite for effectiv...
متن کاملDonor leukocyte transfusions for treatment of recurrent chronic myelogenous leukemia in marrow transplant patients.
Three patients with hematologic relapse after bone marrow transplantation for chronic myelogenous leukemia were treated with interferon alpha and transfusion of viable donor buffy coat. All had complete hematologic and cytogenetic remission, which persisted 32 to 91 weeks after treatment. In two patients graft-versus-host disease developed and was treated by immunosuppression. These results are...
متن کاملTreatment of an established graft-versus-host reaction in AKR mice by adoptive immunotherapy.
A model system in AKR mice for the induction and cure of a clinically evident graft-versus-host disease is reported. Graft-versus-host disease is inititated by i.p. injections of ecyclophosphamide (250 mg/kg body weitht ) into female AKR mice, on Day 0. This is followed by i.v. injections of 45 x 10-6 normal spleen cells (NSC) from male C57BL/6J mice. Median survival time for these mice is 33.4...
